Samsung is once again pushing the boundaries of smartphone design with the upcoming Galaxy S26 Edge. According to a reliable industry insider, the next-generation Edge model will feature an ultra-slim 5.5mm profile, making it the thinnest Galaxy phone ever. Yet surprisingly, it packs a bigger battery than its predecessor.

Ice Universe claims that Samsung will pack a 4,200mAh battery inside a 5.5 mm-thick Galaxy S26 Edge. That’s a notable jump in battery juice from the 3,900mAh unit in the S25 Edge, which has a 5.8mm profile. The Korean firm seems to be leveraging improved battery density and component efficiency to achieve this impressive feat.

The Galaxy S25 Edge already has the highest battery density among recent Galaxy smartphones, and Samsung may take things up a notch with the next-gen model. There have also been rumors of the company switching to silicon-carbon batteries, which offer higher capacity in an identical package. It’s unclear if Samsung has indeed made the move or if the S26 Edge still has a traditional lithium-ion battery.

As the development progresses, we may get more information about the upcoming slim smartphone. While the S25 Edge debuted as a fourth S25 model a few months after the regular flagship trio, Samsung has different plans for 2026. The S26 Edge will be part of the main lineup next year, replacing the Plus model. This means it’ll debut alongside the other two models in early 2026.

In fact, Samsung may also rebrand the base model, calling it Galaxy S26 Pro. While the official launch is still months away, early leaks like this are already building anticipation. Ultra-thin phones typically compromise on battery life, but with the Galaxy S26 Edge, Samsung may be ready to break that trend, setting a new benchmark for slim smartphone design without sacrificing endurance.
