Samsung May Have Just Fixed Expert RAW’s Biggest Problems — Update Now

Samsung may have quietly delivered a significant upgrade to its Expert RAW camera app. The update doesn’t introduce new features or visual changes, but it dramatically improves image quality, users have confirmed. It fixes the lingering bugs and performance issues that surfaced after the One UI 8 update.
Expert RAW is back to normal again
For weeks, Expert RAW users have complained that the One UI 8 update degraded image quality, reduced sharpness, and occasionally introduced focusing issues. Samsung partially addressed these problems with the October patch, but the experience still wasn’t on par with pre–One UI 8 performance.
Now, Samsung seems to have finally restored Expert RAW to its true performance peak. It released version 5.0.04.5 last week with no official changelog, but the improvements appear to be far from minor. According to early tests from @Wvisioncreation, this update has effectively returned the camera app to what it was a few months back.
The source notes that the camera experience now feels refined, natural, and stable. The Auto mode shooting algorithm has also been improved, resulting in clearer detail, better tonal accuracy, and more reliable exposure behavior. Battery life is more stable too, while device temperatures are now lower during extended shooting.
This update also improves the overall UI smoothness, suggesting that Samsung has optimized deeper system components tied to imaging and performance. If you use Expert RAW to capture pro-grade photos on your Galaxy phone, this update is essential. It restores the app’s original quality and elevates consistency across all camera modes.
To update, visit the Galaxy Store or check for the latest version within the app settings. This update comes just before Samsung kicks off the One UI 8.5 beta program. Hopefully, the upcoming feature release won’t break the app again. Stay tuned for more on One UI 8.5 and Expert RAW.
