Did Samsung Mess Up Expert RAW in Galaxy S25 With One UI 8 Update?

Samsung’s One UI 8 rollout is picking up pace and expanding to more regions than ever. At the moment, the One UI 8 update is only available for the Galaxy S25 series, and some of those who updated say it has broken the Expert RAW camera.
Galaxy S25 users report issues with Expert RAW after One UI 8 update!
For the uninitiated, Expert RAW is your go-to app for clean processing, reduced noise, and support for advanced features. It’s what you use when you want to make full use of your flagship device’s camera capabilities. Even more, it remains exclusive to the flagship S series and Z series, and you can’t run it on any of the FE models.
But with One UI 8, users report that the feature now produces noisy images with strange colors and visible artifacts, problems that were largely fixed in the Galaxy S25’s release. We verified those reports on one of our units, and the results were the same, which suggests that this may be a result of the recent One UI 8 update.
Could One UI 8 update be the reason?
X user @Wvisioncreation compared shots from Expert RAW on One UI 8 with standard Auto mode and even ND filter-assisted captures. In these comparisons, Expert RAW now appears worse than before: Auto mode delivers cleaner results than expected, while ND filters still work but require more careful handling, making the shooting process less straightforward than it used to be.
Welcome back to the old Expert RAW era 👋 Weird colors, noise & artifacts are back.
I spent months pushing for an ND-like solution, Samsung applied something similar on S25 Expert RAW, and everyone here knows that.

We don’t know whether Samsung intentionally dialed back Expert RAW’s processing or if it’s simply an annoying bug. Whatever the case, it’s clearly affecting users who rely on the feature for high-quality shots. Hopefully, Samsung will fix it in an upcoming update or at least clarify what has happened so far.
