Expert RAW Image Processing Bug Partially Fixed in October 2025 Security Update

Samsung’s Expert RAW app recently faced significant issues following the rollout of the One UI 8 stable update, with users reporting broken image processing and a regression in the app’s algorithm. Thankfully, Samsung seems to have taken notice.
According to findings by Wvisioncreation, the company has addressed the core issue with the image processing pipeline in the October 2025 security patch. While the update doesn’t completely resolve the problem for all users, it marks a clear step in the right direction. I’ll explain how.
Darker scenes clearly show the broken processing in Expert RAW
Wvisioncreation’s testing shows that Expert RAW can now correctly process images at 50MP when using the EV-0.7 setting (1st image in gallery below). Nighttime shots taken with this configuration show a marked improvement, with minimal artifacts and clean, clear results. Auto mode occasionally works with the proper algorithm at 50MP, but consistency is still lacking.
- Expert RAW 10x 50MP EV-0.7
- Expert RAW 10x 50MP Auto Settings
- Expert RAW 10x 24MP Auto Settings
However, the app still struggles in other modes. Switching to 50MP auto or 24MP auto results in noticeable problems, including color shifts, smearing, and excessive noise, showing that Expert RAW isn’t fully back to normal yet. The bright side is that the core issue, the image processing pipeline, has been repaired, setting the stage for a complete fix in a dedicated Expert RAW update.
While the 50MP EV-0.7 workaround restores some functionality, photographers will likely be waiting for a proper update to get the app performing as intended. In the meantime, you can carefully tweak settings to capture the cleanest.
