June 2025 Update Prepares Galaxy S24 Series for One UI 8 Beta

Samsung just rolled out a new One UI 8 beta update for the Galaxy S25 series. It is now preparing the Galaxy S24 lineup for One UI 8 beta. The company has released the June 2025 security patch for the 2024 flagships, with changes hinting at an imminent launch of the beta program. There’s no official announcement yet.

Galaxy S24 gears up for One UI 8 beta with the June security update

Samsung is currently rolling out the June security update to the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra in South Korea. The OTA package weighs around 300MB (varies depending on model) and comes with the firmware build version BYE9. It brings dozens of security fixes of varying severity.

However, there is a hidden change that hints at an imminent launch of One UI 8 beta. The June update for the Galaxy S24 lineup introduces a new bootloader version (version 7 for the S24 and S24+; version 5 for the Ultra). Samsung did the same with the Galaxy S25 series before the beta release: upgraded the phones to a new bootloader version.

Bootloader upgrades prevent a rollback to lower bootloader versions. This change brings the Galaxy S24 lineup’s stable One UI 7 build to the same bootloader version as One UI 8 beta builds. If a user decides to go back after trying out beta, they can safely return to the June firmware release. Without a bootloader upgrade, they are blocked from rolling back to One UI 7.

As of this writing, Samsung hasn’t announced One UI 8 beta programs for other devices. However, it should release beta updates for the Galaxy S24, Fold 6, and Flip 6 in the coming weeks.
