Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Flip 7 FE Durability and Battery Details Revealed

Yesterday, a leaked EPREL label for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 offered new insights into its durability, battery life, IP rating, and more. Now, similar labels for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Flip 7 FE have surfaced online, revealing key details. All three foldables will go official at Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9.
EPREL labels for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Flip 7 FE leaked ahead of launch
EPREL, short for European Product Registry for Energy Labelling, is a new energy label that device makers must provide for their mobile phones and tablets sold in the European Union (EU). It contains detailed information on a device’s power efficiency, battery life, durability, repairability, and IP rating. The label has the following seven indicators:
- Scale of energy efficiency (from class A to G, with A being the most efficient)
- Energy efficiency class
- Battery life per full charge (in hours and minutes)
- Repeated free-fall reliability class (from class A to E, with A being the most robust)
- Battery endurance in cycles
- Repairability class (from class A to E, with A being the most repairable)
- Ingress Protection (IP) rating
Like the Galaxy Z Fold 7, both Flip models are rated “Class B” for energy efficiency. The Flip 7, which has a 4,300mAh battery, surpasses its Fold counterpart in battery life with a rated runtime of 42 hours and 4 minutes — the Fold 7’s 4,400mAh battery is rated to power it for just over 40 hours on a single charge and moderate usage. The FE model’s rated battery life (it packs a 4,000mAh unit) is 37 hours.
In terms of battery endurance, both the Fold 7 and Flip 7 should retain 80% of their original capacity after 2,000 charge/discharge cycles. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, meanwhile, is rated for 1,700 cycles. All three models carry an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance and are classified under reliability class A, indicating solid durability. In everyday terms, they should hold up well to accidental drops or an unexpected splash in the pool.
Not the most repairable devices
While we do not yet know the repairability class of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE under the EPREL guidelines, the regular Flip 7 falls under Class C, the same as the Fold 7. This means these two foldables aren’t very repair-friendly, likely due to the complex engineering that goes into making these devices. With the official launch just days away, not a long wait before we know it all.
