We’re hitting that time of year again. Leaks and wild speculation about the next Galaxy flagship are already flooding the internet. Samsung is reportedly planning big changes with the Galaxy S26 series, which will now include the S26 Pro, S26 Edge, and S26 Ultra. Yes, the Plus is gone. A new leak now claims that Samsung will finally fix the battery issue with the Galaxy S26 Edge.

Galaxy S26 Edge might finally solve the battery concerns

How true is that… we don’t know yet. A previous Galaxy S26 Edge battery leak pointed to 4,200mAh, but a newer one from Setsuna Digital claims the Galaxy S26 Edge will come with a 4,400mAh battery. Either way, both leaks suggest that Samsung plans to offer people a battery upgrade. The current Galaxy S25 Edge features a 3,900mAh battery, which is quite underwhelming.

Another popular tipster, Ice Universe, backs up the 4,400mAh battery rumor, though they also mention they’ll “double-check” the info. The thing is, all these sources are usually reliable. Does that mean they can’t be wrong? No. One of them still could be, and that’s what makes leaks interesting.

Assuming the S26 Edge ends up thinner (even slightly) than the S25 Edge, how Samsung manages to pack in a bigger battery remains to be seen. Sure, using a silicon-carbon composition is a possibility. But so far, no reports have mentioned it.

There’s still some time until the official launch, which should ideally happen early next year. Reports have confirmed that the upcoming Galaxy S26 series will ship with One UI 8.5. Samsung hasn’t released a x.5 update in a while, but it looks like that could be changing.

If this trend continues, it might hint at a bigger shift. Samsung could start launching foldables with the latest Android version, while its flagships debut with the x.5 update. That way, Samsung would keep up the momentum, continue beating Google at its own game.
