Galaxy S25 Edge Outlasts iPhone Air in Battery Longevity

Apple’s latest iPhone Air is the direct rival of Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge as both devices focus on sleek design with pro performance. We recently highlighted their key differences in several key aspects, including display, battery capacity, camera, and more. The Edge came out on top in most areas, at least on paper. Now, we have evidence that the Samsung model can actually outperform the iPhone in battery longevity in real life too.

EPREL Labels reveal charge cycles of iPhone Air and Galaxy S25 Edge

While the iPhone Air won the battle of slim smartphones with its 5.6 mm thick profile, its battery capacity is much lower than the Galaxy S25 Edge. The slimmest Galaxy S smartphone (5.8 mm thick) packs a 3,900 mAh battery, which is 751 mAh more than the iPhone Air’s 3,149 mAh. However, battery capacity is not the only area where the slim iPhone falls behind — there’s more to the story.

According to official EPREL labels via GSMArena, the iPhone Air’s battery retains 80% of its capacity after 1,000 charge cycles. As for Galaxy S25 Edge, it can maintain the same level for 2,000 charge cycles. If you are unfamiliar, a battery’s charge cycle is the total number of times it has been fully charged and discharged. One cycle means either going from 100% to 0% in a single use or counting up partial charges that total 100%.

As you can see, the Galaxy S25 Edge has twice the battery charge cycle as the iPhone Air. Furthermore, the EPREL label reveals that the S25 Edge can last up to 40 hours and 5 minutes on a single charge, while the Air reaches about 40 hours. Of course, the single charge difference is small, but with more charge cycles, the Galaxy S25 Edge should keep its battery healthier for a longer period.
