Samsung recently rolled out the second One UI 8 Beta update for the Galaxy S23 series. The company is also pushing a new update to users who didn’t participate in the beta program. Those users are getting the latest September 2025 security patch. It could be the final security release before the big One UI 8 upgrade.

Galaxy S23 joins Samsung’s September 2025 security update rollout

Samsung’s One UI 8 beta program for the Galaxy S23 series (not including the FE model) is available only in the US, the UK, India, and South Korea. Interested users in these regions get an early taste of the Android 16-based update, while the rest of the world must wait until the official release later this month or in early October. Amidst this wait, Samsung has released a new security patch for the devices.

The Galaxy S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, and S23 FE are now receiving the September 2025 security update. Samsung’s latest security release for Galaxy devices addresses over 80 vulnerabilities, including a few critical ones. The company has already pushed this update to a few other models, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7.

As of this writing, the latest SMR (Security Maintenance Release) is available for the flagship trio in the US and select Asian markets with the build version DYI3 (thanks, @KeepUPwithOneUI). The new build version for the FE model is EYI2. Samsung should soon roll out the update in other parts of the world. You can always check for updates from Settings > Software update > Download and install.

Meanwhile, we can also confirm the availability of these security fixes for the Galaxy A06. This affordable smartphone is picking up the latest security fixes in some Asian countries with build versions BYI1 for the 4G model and AYI2 for the 5G model (thanks, @Mohammed_K_2010). The device is eligible for One UI 8, though the update may not arrive until late in 2025. We will keep you posted.
