Early Leaks Suggest Apple’s Foldable May Struggle Against Galaxy Z Fold 8

2026 is going to be the year when Samsung will meet its true foldable rival. Apple, that avoided entering the foldable market, for a bit too long will finally release its first foldable in the market. Suffice to say, it will be pit against the Galaxy Z Fold 8, and some early details about the Apple’s foldable have come out in the wild.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 could hurt Apple’s foldable in areas that matter the most
Digital Chat Station on Weibo has revealed two details about Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone. It could feature a 5.25-inch cover display and a 7.58-inch inner display. About cameras, it will come along with a 48MP sensor as part of a dual-camera setup on the rear. It’s also expected to have a punch-hole cutout on the cover display for the front camera, as well as an under-display camera beneath the inner display.
Samsung once used under-display cameras in its Galaxy Z Fold foldables. But the company later ditched UDC in favor of better front-facing cameras. That approach seemingly changed with the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, followed by the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Now, if you are a keen Samsung user, you may already notice that Apple’s foldable will lag behind in these areas, even when compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, let alone the Galaxy Z Fold 8, which is likely to arrive in July or August next year. Put more simply, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to have several advantages over Apple’s foldable.
First of all, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could at least match the Galaxy Z Fold 7. For example, the current Galaxy Z Fold 7 features a 6.5-inch cover display and an 8-inch foldable inner display. Additionally, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 offers a 200MP wide, 10MP telephoto, and 12MP ultrawide camera setup. This gives Samsung a significant edge over Apple’s upcoming foldable. What do you think? We can’t wait for the actual comparison.
