One UI 8.5 Brings Two New Animated Lock Screen Wallpapers

Samsung’s One UI 8.5 continues to make headlines, revealing key details of the new software. A fresh report now suggests that the company will introduce two new animated wallpapers. This will make your lock screen more engaging, thanks to its dynamic visual effects.

Samsung introduces new wallpapers in One UI 8.5

Samsung usually does not introduce new wallpapers with major OS releases, so users stick with the same preloaded options. This time, however, with One UI 8.5, the company has added two new animated wallpapers. The upcoming Android 16-based update will bring substantial visual improvements while also introducing a bunch of new features. Now, the new wallpapers appear to be part of these enhancements.

The first wallpaper takes inspiration from a basketball court. On the lock screen, a basketball drops and rolls across the court with animation. As for the second wallpaper, it features a stylized archway with stairs and gives a parallax-like effect when you tilt the phone. This effect will definitely offer you a modern visual experience on the lock screen.

These wallpapers showed up (via SamMobile) in the latest leaked internal build of One UI 8.5 running on Galaxy S25 Ultra. However, as testing progresses, the company may add more wallpapers to the software. Samsung may debut the stable One UI 8.5 in early 2026 alongside the next-generation Galaxy S26 series. Meanwhile, the company is reportedly gearing up to open a beta program for the software at the end of November 2025.

In the previous One UI 8.5 build, Samsung redesigned the “Software Update” page, adding a brand-new banner image. The design features a soft circular gradient with abstract patterns, seen in the default wallpapers of the Galaxy A series.
