Samsung May Launch Two Types of Smart Glasses Next Year

Samsung’s first-ever XR headset (codenamed Project Moohan) will reportedly debut on September 29, 2025. However, since it’s a bulky device, the company considers the headset a bridgehead for its transition to smart glasses. According to a report from Newsworks, the Korean firm is developing a pair of display-free smart glasses. The goal is to make it lighter and more practical for everyday use.
“XR headsets cannot be worn around, but smart glasses can be worn while moving around, so they are more useful,” said a Samsung official. “This is a factor that will lead to more consumers purchasing this product.” Like Ray-Ban Meta, Samsung’s smart glasses may also feature speakers, a microphone, and a camera. These display-free glasses usually come at an affordable price, making them accessible to a wider consumers.
Meanwhile, Samsung is also developing XR-based smart glasses in collaboration with Google through the ‘Infinite’ project. The company also showed its demo at the Google Developer Conference in May 2025. These glasses feature a camera and microphones, allowing Gemini to see and hear the world. Their in-lens display shows helpful information privately. Furthermore, you can connect to your phone to use apps hands-free.
The glasses reportedly weigh about 50 grams and have a 155 mAh battery. Under the hood, it could use Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon AR1+ chip. Meanwhile, Apple is planning a bunch of smart glasses by the end of 2026. They will work with Siri to provide visual intelligence features. Moreover, you will be able to take photos, record videos, translate languages, play music, make calls, get directions, and more.
