Samsung May Launch XR Headset Next Month at an “Affordable” Price

Samsung may be gearing up to finally launch its first-ever XR headset, codenamed Project Moohan. A new report confirms that the highly anticipated device will debut at the next Galaxy Unpacked event on September 29, 2025. More importantly, it might arrive with a surprising price tag that undercuts Apple’s Vision Pro by a wide margin.
Samsung to debut its XR headset in late September
The Korean firm first teased Project Moohan back in December 2024, before showcasing a prototype during the Galaxy S25 launch event earlier this year. Since then, anticipation has steadily grown, with Samsung dropping hints about a late-2025 release. Now, the Korean media reports that the XR headset will finally go official on September 29, a date first reported in June.
If the timeline holds, Samsung may release the headset in Korea on October 13, with a gradual rollout to other markets in the following months. The company reportedly aims to ship around 100,000 units in 2025. This may look like a modest target, but we are talking about a first-generation device with no real known market.
However, if Samsung quickly makes the headset available across key markets, it may hit the target fairly easily. Its strategy appears to center on competitive pricing, with the reports suggesting a launch price between KRW 2.5 million and 4 million, which translates to roughly $1,800 to $2,000. While final figures may vary depending on regional taxes and exchange rates, the estimated price is much lower than Apple’s $3,499 Vision Pro.
This aggressive pricing could give Samsung a major advantage in the emerging XR segment. Samsung is also betting on its innovative form factor and AI integration to capture early adopters and expand its ecosystem. Co-developed with Qualcomm and Google, the device features the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset and runs on Android XR, a platform designed specifically for XR devices.
Reported hardware highlights include dual micro-OLED displays, 12 onboard cameras for advanced tracking and immersive experiences, and AI-driven smart features for enhanced productivity and entertainment. If Samsung manages to deliver strong performance, compelling apps, and a relatively affordable price point, its XR headset could set the tone for broader adoption of extended reality devices.
