Galaxy Phones Can Now Send MMS via T-Mobile’s T-Satellite

A few days ago, T-Mobile launched its satellite service, called T-Satellite, for users across the US. Unlike other satellite services that are only capable of sending text messages, T-Mobile’s offering also supports Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS). The good news is that this feature is available on several Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

T-Mobile brings MMS support to its T-Satellite service

T-Mobile’s satellite service is now live for everyone, regardless of carrier, with a standalone subscription of $10 per month. If you are a T-Mobile customer and have the Experience Beyond or older Go5G plans, you can enjoy the service for free. Whenever there is no regular network coverage, mainly in remote areas, T-Satellite automatically activates on your smartphone.

It connects to a constellation of 650+ satellites and provides coverage across the Continental US, including Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and parts of southern Alaska. However, one notable feature that makes T-Satellite stand out is its ability to send images, audio, and video. Yes, you heard that right — the service is not just limited to sending and receiving text messages.

Folks over at PCMag recently tested the MMS feature over satellite on a Samsung Galaxy S24 FE using the default Messages app. The results are impressive, though it took multimedia items longer to go through. For instance, it took up to two minutes for a photo to send successfully. A short 5-second video took more than 10 minutes to deliver. On a second attempt, when they sent a different 5-second video, it took over 20 minutes to go through.

While video sending functionality through satellite still needs improvement, it’s good to see that it works successfully despite the delay.
