Galaxy Z Fold 7 Charging Test Shows It’s Slightly Faster Than Fold 6

A few days ago, we learned that despite having the same battery capacity in the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Fold 6, the new model delivers better power efficiency thanks to software optimization. Does the Z Fold 7 also charge faster than the older Z Fold 6, even though both support 25W charging? Let’s find out.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 vs Fold 6 charging comparison
Samsung has made significant improvements to its latest Galaxy Z Fold 7 compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 6. However, one key area that remains unchanged is battery and charging. It retains the same 4,400 mAh battery with 25W wired charging support. For a premium device, many would expect at least 45W fast charging. But this is understandable, as Samsung appears to be prioritizing battery longevity over charging speed.
YouTube channel Lover of Tech recently conducted a battery charging test on both devices, alongside the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which packs a 5,000mAh battery and supports 45W charging. The YouTuber used official Samsung power adapters — 25W for the foldables, and 45W for the Ultra model. For fair results, all devices had similar battery health, each with 100% capacity. And the results were quite surprising.
After the first 15 minutes, both the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Fold 6 reached the same battery percentage. In fact, the S25 Ultra was at the same level, too. As the test progressed, the new fold device started to pull slightly ahead compared to the predecessor, while the S25 Ultra also gained pace. Here’s the breakdown of the test results:
15 minutes
- Z Fold 7: 29%
- Z Fold 6: 29%
- S25 Ultra: 29%
30 minutes
- Z Fold 7: 54%
- Z Fold 6: 53%
- S25 Ultra: 51%
45 minutes
- Z Fold 7: 74%
- Z Fold 6: 70%
- S25 Ultra: 71%
60 minutes
- Z Fold 7: 89%
- Z Fold 6: 85%
- S25 Ultra: 90%
75 minutes
- Z Fold 7: 95%
- Z Fold 6: 93%
- S25 Ultra: 96%
Eventually, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 completed a full charge in 1 hour, 25 minutes, and 49 seconds, while the Z Fold 6 took 1 hour, 30 minutes, and 37 seconds. The S25 Ultra took just under 1 hour and 18 minutes to charge fully. As you can see, the new Fold charges slightly faster than its predecessor, giving you another reason to upgrade. Pre-orders will end in just one week, so hurry if you are planning to upgrade to the most advanced book-style foldable device.
