Galaxy Z Fold 7 Wins Battery Test Against Fold 6 and Fold 5

Galaxy Z Fold 7 battery life beats Fold 6 and Fold 5 in real-world test

If you are planning to upgrade to the seventh-generation Fold device, you will be happy to know that it passed the extreme battery test conducted by the Lover of Tech YouTube channel. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 lasted over five and a half hours on mobile data alone, surpassing older models, including the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Fold 5.

As part of the test, the YouTuber ran nine tasks each for one hour on the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Fold 6, and Z Fold 5. He followed this order: (1) Camera 4K 60 fps, (2) Instagram Live, (3) TikTok videos, (4) Instagram Reels, (5) YouTube, (6) YouTube Music, (7) X Spaces, (8) Asphalt Unite Gaming and (9) Whatsapp video call.

Speaking of some key observations, the Fold 7 lost 20% battery in one hour during camera recording, compared to Fold 6’s 21% and Fold 5’s 25%. As for Instagram Live activity, the Fold 7 lost 16%, while the Fold 6 and Fold 5 lost 19% and 22%, respectively. The test continued with other apps, and when YouTube playback started, the Fold 5 shut down, securing a total screen-on time of 4 hours and 32 minutes. The Fold 6 lasted 5 hours and 15 minutes, while the Fold 7 managed to achieve 5 hours and 36 minutes.

Software optimization plays a key role in battery performance

As we can see, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is the clear winner with the longest battery life.
