While the Galaxy S26 Ultra is still months away from its official debut, details are already emerging about Samsung’s next flagship powerhouse. The latest leak suggests a major leap forward in display technology with the introduction of a Color Filter on Encapsulation (CoE) OLED panel. This could bring real benefits to both performance and design.

What is CoE OLED, and how does the Galaxy S26 Ultra benefit from it?

CoE OLED is a fresh approach to OLED panel construction. It replaces the traditional polarizer layer (used to manage light reflection and visibility) with a color filter, and swaps out the standard pixel definition layer (PDL) for a black PDL. These structural tweaks help the panel transmit more light, making the display thinner and brighter, while also reducing power consumption.

Earlier this year, a report claimed Samsung is considering upgrading the Galaxy S26 Ultra to a CoE OLED display. Reliable industry insider Ice Universe recently backed the report. They said the Korean firm will combine the advanced screen technology with its third-gen anti-reflective coating for enhanced visuals, a slimmer body, and improved brightness and power efficiency.

With these upgrades, Samsung may be able to get more out of the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s 5,000mAh battery. In fact, its Ultra flagships have had the same battery capacity for several years, yet the battery life has improved with each new generation. The company has prioritized a slimmer and lighter design over more battery power, and it has paid off nicely.

Early rumors also hint at an upgraded primary camera for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, replacing Samsung’s in-house sensor with a Sony unit. The 5x zoom camera introduced with the S24 Ultra last year may carry over unchanged, and so does this year’s all-new 50MP Ultrawide lens from the S25 Ultra. However, the 3x zoom camera may get a 50MP resolution, while the selfie camera could see an upgrade too. Stay tuned for more.
