Galaxy Z Fold 7 key specs and features

Starting with the design, Samsung has put a lot of effort into reducing the thickness of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The device measures 158.4 x 143.2 x 4.2 mm (unfolded) and 158.4 x 72.8 x 8.9 mm (folded). In comparison, last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 was noticeably bulkier, measuring 153.5 x 132.6 x 5.6 mm (unfolded) and 153.5 x 68.1 x 12.1 mm (folded). As for the weight, it’s just 215g — even lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Thanks to its sleek profile, the Fold 7 looks more premium.

Durability is a major concern when it comes to foldable devices, and like the previous generation, Samsung has addressed it with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 as well. The company has implemented Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the rear of the device. Likewise, the cover screen has Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 protection. The phone carries an IP48 rating for water and dust resistance (solid particles larger than 1mm). On top of that, it comes with an advanced aluminum frame that adds extra strength to the overall build.

The new Fold sports an 8.0-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. It offers a high resolution of 2184 x 1968 pixels and a pixel density of 368 PPI. The phone has an impressive cover display — a 6.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, a resolution of 2520 x 1080 pixels, and a pixel density of 422 PPI.

We can see that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 features larger displays compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s 7.6-inch main screen and 6.3-inch cover screen. More importantly, the cover screen is now wider, almost matching the aspect ratio of regular smartphone screens. This enhances the user experience as the display no longer feels tall and narrow. Samsung has dropped S Pen support, though.

You can capture amazing shots with a 200MP camera

Speaking of its triple camera system, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 boasts a powerful 200MP main sensor, the same as the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This comes as a major upgrade compared to the 50MP sensor in the Fold 6. The other two units remain unchanged from the predecessor: a 10MP telephoto lens with an f/2.4 aperture and a 12MP ultrawide lens with an f/2.2 aperture. It’s good to see that Samsung has introduced Ultra-level camera hardware to its foldable lineup.

Another notable change is in the selfie camera segment. The phone sports punch-hole selfie cameras on both the inside and outside — 10MP and 10MP, respectively. Samsung has gotten rid of the under-display camera on the inner display found on the Z Fold 6 in favor of a traditional punch-hole camera. These hardware upgrades, coupled with advanced software processing and ISP improvements, should make for improved photography.

Under the hood, Samsung has implemented Qualcomm’s flagship processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite “for Galaxy”, into the Galaxy Z Fold 7. This is the same chipset that powers the entire Galaxy S25 family and has proven to deliver incredible performance. It arrives with three storage and memory configurations: 256GB + 12GB, 512GB + 12GB, and 1TB + 16GB.

In the battery and charging department, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 packs a 4,400mAh battery, which should be enough to last a full day with normal usage. Samsung opted for a thinner profile over a battery upgrade. The device supports 25W wired charging, which can reach 50% charge in just 30 minutes. Furthermore, it offers 15W wireless charging and 4.5W reverse wireless charging.

On the software front, you get the Android 16-based One UI 8 out of the box. The latest OS brings several new AI features to enhance productivity and make everyday life easier. Samsung has promised that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will get seven years of major OS updates, meaning it will receive updates up to Android 23. If this sounds like your next foldable, pre-orders are now open.
