One UI 7 Should be Last Major Update for These Galaxy Devices — No One UI 8

Samsung’s massively delayed One UI 7 update is now available for a wide range of Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Built on Android 15, One UI 7 brings a number of performance improvements, visual tweaks, and feature upgrades. But as exciting as the update sounds, it also marks the end of the line for many Galaxy devices.
That’s because One UI 7 will be the final major Android OS upgrade for several models that have now reached the end of their software support policy. While these devices may still get minor security patches for a while, they won’t be updated to One UI 8, which is based on Android 16 and debuted with the new foldables last week.
These devices will end their lives on One UI 7, no One UI 8 for them
Samsung promises up to seven generations of Android OS upgrades for its devices, with recent flagships getting the longest software support. The exact support policy varies depending on the device model, launch year, and original Android version. Based on this, we have compiled a list of Galaxy smartphones and tablets that are eligible for One UI 7 but not One UI 8.
- Galaxy S21, S21+, S21 Ultra
- Galaxy Z Fold 3, Flip 3
- Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022)
- Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro
- Galaxy A14, A14 5G
- Galaxy A05, A05s
- Galaxy M33
- Galaxy M14, M14 5G
- Galaxy F14
We believe these Galaxy devices will end their lives on One UI 7. If your device is on this list, you may still get security patches, but don’t expect One UI 8 to arrive. That said, Samsung could get generous and roll out one more major feature update to some of these devices. The company already has dozens of models lined up for One UI 8. The rollout may begin in August, starting with the Galaxy S25 series and gradually expanding to other models.
