It’s no secret that Samsung is preparing to launch its first Android XR headset (codenamed Project Moohan). A few days ago, a tipster suggested that the Korean company would unveil the headset at its July Unpacked event. However, that report might only be partially true — the headset is unlikely to see a full launch at the event.

The long wait for Samsung’s XR headset continues

During the January Unpacked event, Samsung first teased its XR headset, though it did not reveal any information about the device. However, we got a look at real-world mockups of the Project Moohan at MWC 2025. More recently, during I/O 2025, Google confirmed that the XR headset will launch later this year, leaving users speculating about the exact launch month.

Now that Samsung is holding its summer Unpacked event in July 2025, rumors are swirling that we may finally see the launch of its XR headset. Unfortunately, notable tipster @MaxJmb has recently refuted those claims, so launch is still not on the cards. In reply, @PandaFlashPro  added that Samsung will only showcase the device at the event. The tipster further claims that Samsung won’t reveal all the details, so it’s the same story again — the company will keep key details under wraps.

Samsung is gearing up for a dedicated event for its XR headset, according to the same tipster. After all, this is the company’s first Android-powered XR device, developed in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm. It will run on Google’s Android XR operating system and is likely to be equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip.

So, the full launch of the XR headset is still a few months away. As for availability, the device could go on sale in South Korea later this year. Depending on user response and market reception, it could gradually make its way to global markets, including the US.
