You Can Now Use Gemini on Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro on One UI 8

Samsung has started rolling out Google’s Gemini support to the Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro. But only if they are paired with a phone or tablet running One UI 8. The update is already live for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, Flip 7 FE, which shipped with One UI 8 earlier this year.

The integration does not mean the earbuds are running Gemini on their own. The Buds still rely on the connected device’s processing power and memory. Once paired to a supported phone, you can launch Gemini by saying “Hey Google” or by pressing and holding one of the earbuds. The setup mirrors how Galaxy Buds have worked with Google Assistant in the past, but now taps into Gemini’s AI features for faster answers and more contextual help.

Samsung says One UI 8 will begin rolling out to more devices in September. The rollout will start with the latest Galaxy S25 series. Which will be followed by more devices in the coming weeks. That means owners of Galaxy S24 series phones, older foldables, and certain Galaxy A models will be able to get the same Gemini-in-Buds experience without upgrading hardware. The company has also confirmed that Galaxy Watches running One UI 8 Watch will offer similar Gemini access. This hints at a more unified approach across its devices.

One new addition in this release is the option to make Gemini the default assistant for the Buds. Once enabled, all voice triggers and long-press gestures go directly to Gemini without going through Bixby or Assistant menus. This is a small change, but it makes the whole experience feel more seamless.
