Since Samsung relies heavily on Vietnam to produce the majority of its devices bound for the US market, this is a serious concern for the Korean firm. Vietnamese-manufactured smartphones are already under threat of a 46% import duty as part of broader reciprocal tariffs.

Although the Trump administration has temporarily paused these duties for select “friendly” markets, the new announcement could override that pause, particularly if companies fail to shift production stateside. The message is clear: Start manufacturing locally in the US or face tariffs.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 foldables could get caught in the crossfire. Expected to debut next month, these devices are set to deliver refinements in design, including thinner builds and larger displays.
