Samsung Wraps Wave 2 of One UI 8 Beta, Sets Stage for Wider Rollout

In late May, Samsung kicked off its One UI 8 beta program, giving Galaxy S25 users early access to its Android 16-based software. The company launched the Wave 2 this week, releasing beta updates for the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6. Having completed the rollout, it is now shifting focus to the next phase, aiming to extend beta testing to a wider range of devices.
Samsung gears up for the third wave of One UI 8 beta
One UI 8, based on Android 16, brings several new features, performance improvements, and UI refinements aimed at enhancing multitasking, personalization, and device security. Since opening up the One UI 8 beta program in May, Samsung has rolled out four beta builds to the Galaxy S25 series. This week, it pushed the first beta updates for its 2024 flagships, including foldables.
For the second wave, the company dropped Germany and Poland from supported regions. The Galaxy S24, Fold 6, and Flip 6 only get beta updates in India, South Korea, the UK, and the US. While Samsung may not expand the list of supported markets in the next phase, the company has beta plans for a bunch of additional devices.
Wave 3 will bring the One UI 8 beta to the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy Z Flip 5. Moreover, Samsung is planning to include the Galaxy Tab S10 series, Galaxy A55, Galaxy A54, Galaxy A35, and Galaxy A36 in the upcoming phase. Some of these devices may get beta updates before the end of this month, while others may have to wait until September.
While Samsung has yet to announce a precise release timeline for the next phase of its One UI 8 beta program, it has confirmed that the Galaxy S25 series will get the stable build next month. Other eligible devices may follow in October, with most models making the jump to One UI 8 before the end of the year.
