Samsung first officially teased the Galaxy S25 Edge at Unpacked in January, followed by a showcase at MWC in Barcelona. In June, the company finally unveiled its slimmest phone yet. The Galaxy S25 Edge has been on shelves for less than a month, but soft demand has already prompted Samsung to scale back production.

Samsung has lowered Galaxy S25 Edge production

Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge (hands-on) isn’t selling as anticipated, which is why the company has since lowered its production, Korean outlet TheElec reports. The report says the production cutback is considerable, though no specific numbers.

The Galaxy S25 Edge is one of the Samsung’s boldest experiments in a long time, actually. It’s remarkably thin at just 5.8mm and weighs just as much as vanilla Galaxy S25. Of course, there are some compromises with the phone, but it does feel great to hold in hand. Internally, Samsung was even planning to replace the usual Plus model in next year’s Galaxy S26 series with the Edge, believing it could perform better in mid-tier premium space.

That plan now appears to be in doubt. Sales of the S25 Edge have reportedly slowed much earlier than expected. New Galaxy phones usually see strong demand for at least the first three months, and the Edge was supposed to keep pace with the rest of the S25 series.

While the Galaxy S25 Edge struggles, Samsung is turning its focus to its upcoming foldables. The company is reportedly ramping up production of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 for the US market. Well, this move is likely to stay prepared of possible US tariffs that could raise prices later in the year.

That said, it’s still unclear whether Samsung will give the Edge line another shot next year or quietly drop it from the lineup. There’s still hope for a Galaxy S26 Edge, ideally with the right fixes in place.
