Pixel Phones to Get Gemini Space — Google’s Take on Now Bar and Now Brief

It looks like Google is developing similar functionality to Samsung’s Now Bar and Now Brief for its Pixel devices. The new feature will likely be called Gemini Space and debut alongside the upcoming Pixel 10 series. It may offer a contextual summary of your day right from the lock screen, as well as live sports scores and activities from other apps.
Google’s Gemini Space may challenge Samsung’s Now Brief
According to Android Authority, Google is working on a new feature called Gemini Space with the internal codename Ambient Data. The publication believes this feature is a rebrand of At a Glance, which provides information on the lock screen, home screen, and Always-on Display. However, Google has now added more capabilities and plans to relaunch it — Gemini Space can show finance recaps and live sports scores.
If you use a Galaxy phone and are running One UI 7 or higher, this might sound familiar. That’s because Samsung’s Now Bar shows live updates and tasks right on your lock screen and Always-on Display. Now Brief, meanwhile, summarizes your day, providing quick access to necessary information on your health, commute, and plans. Google is seemingly preparing the exact same features for the Pixel lineup.

So, Pixel users, get ready for a more helpful and personalized lock screen experience. Expected to debut with the Pixel 10 series, Gemini Space may also support some older devices, such as the Pixel 9 Pro and the Pixel 8 Pro. You don’t have to upgrade to the Pixel 10 to taste Google’s new AI-powered experience. We should learn more details during the Made by Google event in August 2025.
Meanwhile, Samsung is enhancing its Now Bar capabilities with its One UI 8 update. For example, you will be able to access WhatsApp calls within the small pill-shaped bar. It also plans to bring support for a wider range of third-party apps in the future.
