Samsung Increases Foldable Phone Production Volume for the US Market

Samsung cuts global foldable production, ramps up for the US market

A few days ago, a report revealed that Samsung has cut the global production volume for its upcoming foldable lineup. A fresh report by TheElec now reveals that the company has further lowered its production volume, indicating Samsung doesn’t expect sales growth in most markets. It will now produce a total of 930,000 foldable phones in June, down from the previously planned 1.34 million units. However, for the US market, the company has reportedly increased the volume.

During the recent global strategy meeting, Samsung revealed that it is ramping up foldable phone production for the US market in June. It is planning to produce 600,000 units of Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, up from the original projection of 400,000 units. Industry analysts believe Samsung has basically taken this step to avoid the burden of US tariffs. If Samsung manages to export products to the US before the imposition of the Trump administration’s new tariffs, it may help maintain competitive pricing in the foldable market.

Another reason could be that Samsung is indeed expecting high sales this year in the US market. After all, the company has reportedly made significant upgrades to its foldable lineup, such as sleek design, larger screens, improved camera, a flagship chipset, and more. On top of that, the introduction of the affordable Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE should make foldables more accessible to a wider audience. Only time will tell if Samsung’s bet on the US market pays off.
