Samsung Resets Galaxy S26 Branding — No Pro or Plus

A few weeks ago, Samsung was spotted calling its upcoming “Plus” flagship the Galaxy S26 Plus. However, the company has now reverted to the traditional “+” branding, with the device now called the Galaxy S26+. Samsung has also dropped the “Pro” branding from the base model.
Samsung pulls a 180-degree U-turn on Galaxy S26 branding
In 2020, Samsung overhauled its flagship strategy with the Galaxy S20 series, introducing a three-tier lineup consisting of a base model, a Plus variant, and an Ultra. That structure has remained unchanged ever since, and it may not this year either. While the company appeared ready to disrupt that formula with the Galaxy S26 series, not anymore.
Early leaks pointed to Samsung dropping the Plus model in favor of a new, ultra-slim Galaxy S26 Edge. The company also mulled renaming the base model as the Galaxy S26 Pro. However, it has now taken a U-turn, reverting to the traditional branding. The base model is now simply called the Galaxy S26, while the middle child is called the Galaxy S26+. Samsung briefly named it S26 Plus, but not anymore.
A fresh regulatory listing calls it the Galaxy S26+, @erenylmaz075 claims. This means the 2026 flagship lineup will consist of the S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra. The Ultra model isn’t seeing any rebranding exercises, though Samsung may redesign it slightly. The upcoming device has more rounded corners, instead of its iconic boxy shape with sharp corners.
As far as the Edge model is concerned, Samsung has canceled it for the time being. It may introduce a second-gen slim flagship later, but the S26 Edge won’t be part of the initial flagship launch, expected in late February.
