Samsung has begun rolling out the August 2025 security update for the Galaxy Watch 6 series and the Galaxy Watch Ultra. The latest patch improves device reliability, stability, and security. As of now, the update is available in a few regions, but rest assured that the company will roll it out to more markets in the coming weeks.

Galaxy Watch 6 series and Watch Ultra pick up the August security update

Launched in 2023, both the Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic are eligible for the latest One UI 8 Watch update. However, you will probably have to wait for a few weeks to experience the new WearOS 6-based software. For now, Samsung is rolling out the August security update for the Watch 6 lineup with firmware version BYH1. As of now, the company makes it available in its home country, South Korea.

Speaking of the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2024), it is the company’s premium smartwatch. In late July 2025, the company pushed the stable One UI Watch 8 for the device, allowing users to enjoy the new health features. Now, the Korean firm is rolling out the August 2025 security update in the US with firmware version BYH6.

If you are an owner of the Galaxy Watch 6, Watch 6 Classic, or Watch Ultra, make sure to install the latest security patch. To check for updates, first open the Galaxy Wearable app on your connected smartphone. Now head over to the Watch settings > Watch software update > Download and install. Note that the new patch may not land on your device right away, as Samsung rolls out updates in phases.

So, what security enhancements will you get? As usual, the release notes did not disclose specific details but mentioned improvements in stability, reliability, and security. That said, Samsung has already shared the contents of its August 2025 Security Maintenance Release (SMR). It bundles fixes for Galaxy Watches across several key areas, such as SemSensorService, fall detection, and SemSensorManager.
