Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy Z TriFold in the United States. After debuting last month in select other markets, Samsung’s most ambitious foldable yet will be available to buy in the US this week, starting on January 30. Of course, the device costs a fortune. $2,899, to be accurate.

Galaxy Z TriFold launches in the US with a hefty price tag

The Galaxy Z TriFold will go on sale through Samsung.com and Samsung Experience Stores in the US this Friday, January 30. The device will be available in a single configuration: 16GB RAM with 512GB storage, finished in Crafted Black. Its official price tag of $2,899 makes it one of the most expensive smartphones Samsung has ever sold, and easily the most complex.

As of this writing, Samsung hasn’t confirmed the Galaxy Z TriFold’s availability on third-party retail channels. The company also has yet to announce any launch offers or preorder incentives. It may share more details on the launch day. If Samsung follows the same approach it has used in other markets, the device could be released in limited quantities through staggered batches.

For a quick specs roundup, the Galaxy Z TriFold features two displays. The outer screen is a 6.5-inch AMOLED panel with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. When unfolded, the inner display stretches to 10 inches, offering a 2,160 × 1,584 resolution and the same 120Hz refresh rate. The large folding display enables advanced multitasking, including the ability to run three portrait apps side by side.

The Galaxy Z TriFold has a 200MP primary camera, a 12MP ultrawide lens, and a 10MP 3x zoom camera. There are also two 10MP selfie cameras, one on each display, both capable of 4K video recording. Powering the device is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, paired with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage (1TB model isns’t coming to the US).

The phone also boasts an IP48 rating and stereo speakers. It runs One UI 8 out of the box, with Samsung committing to seven years of major OS updates and security patches. The Galaxy Z TriFold is fueled by a 5,600mAh battery with 45W wired and 15W wireless charging.
