Samsung’s One UI 8 update will bring a host of new features and improvements. One of the biggest areas of improvement is Good Lock, the company’s suite of customization tools for Galaxy devices. Packed with fresh features and thoughtful refinements, the updated modules in Good Lock aim to give Galaxy users even more control over how their devices look and feel. Here’s a breakdown of the main changes across Good Lock in One UI 8.

Good Lock’s One UI 8 update includes a massive overhaul of Home Up

Samsung has already rolled out the One UI 8 update for Home Up, the Good Lock module for customizing the home screen and app launch/close animations. DIY Home screen editor sees major enhancements with the addition of Alignment Guidelines for precise layout edits, animation toggle for smoother app launch transitions, and group/ungroup items and lock items to avoid accidental changes.

You can also link apps to stickers with animations, hide page indicators for a cleaner home screen, choose launch type (full screen, pop-up, split view) for apps, tune blur animations during app launch and exit, and more. We have explained all key changes in the One UI 8 version of Home Up here.

MultiStar has also already picked up its One UI 8 update, introducing a Flip Shot feature on Z Flip series devices. It lets you display photos, text, or stickers on the cover screen when taking mirror selfies. Additionally, Flip phones get resizable launcher widgets for the cover screen. LockStar, meanwhile, adds customizable fingerprint animations.

Additionally, One Hand Operation+ now works alongside system swipe gestures. Its One UI 8 update also makes it easier to add or remove gesture handles. Camera Assistant allows Galaxy users to customize recording sounds for motion photos, while Display Assistant adds a screen curtain toggle to the side button (double press). It also gets improved split-screen UI on tablets and foldables.

Big updates for KeysCafe, Routines+, Wonderland, and other modules

Good Lock’s KeysCafe module gets a full UX redesign in One UI 8. Samsung has also added a new keyboard usage dashboard and custom keyboard gestures with color and effects. Routines+, meanwhile, allows users to create timed reminders for daily tasks via Now Brief. Samsung says devices that do not support the Now Brief feature will show a notification.

Theme Park, another module that has already been updated, adds new icon styles, such as Glass, Film Grain, and Gradient. For Wonderland users, the One UI 8 version will bring improved blur effects during lock screen transitions and support for horizontal or vertical blur directions. NavStar enables customization of the back arrow icon.

Last but not least, Galaxy to Share (GTS) — which lets users share their Good Lock customizations but isn’t available globally — gains UI enhancements and improved templates for image editor. Samsung plans to gradually roll out the One UI 8 versions of these Good Lock modules in the coming days. The One UI 8 update itself is expected to be available widely starting in August.
