New Fingerprint Effects Coming to LockStar with One UI 8

Samsung is gearing up to add a splash of style to your lock screen with the upcoming One UI 8 update for its LockStar app. The popular Good Lock module for customizing your lock screen will soon introduce dynamic fingerprint recognition effects, bringing a fresh layer of visual flair to the unlocking experience. The feature is expected to roll out in the coming weeks.

LockStar’s One UI 8 update will let you customize fingerprint effects

With its next update for One UI 8 devices, LockStar will let users customize the fingerprint unlock animation, making the lock screen more interactive and visually appealing. Samsung is adding five new fingerprint recognition effects, which you can see in action below.

To be honest, these animations aren’t exciting. However, they still give Galaxy users more choices to match their lock screen style with their personal taste. Whether you’re into subtle animations or something more flashy, these new fingerprint effects provide an extra layer of expression every time you unlock your device. Some other brands already offer customizable fingerprint animations built into their custom OSes. Samsung is finally catching up.

Note that this feature will go live with the One UI 8 update for LockStar. While this Good Lock module already works on One UI 8 devices, Samsung has yet to officially introduce an updated version. The company is expected to begin a wide rollout of One UI 8 in early August. LockStar may receive the new update around the same time.

Samsung is also preparing One UI 8 updates for several other Good Lock modules. In fact, a few have already rolled out, including Home Up with tons of new features and enhancements. The likes of NotiStar and Game Booster+ remain completely non-functional in One UI 8, though. We will let you know when Samsung rolls out fresh updates for these Good Lock modules.
