Samsung Expands One UI 8 Rollout to the US and Canada

Samsung’s One UI 8 rollout is now well and truly underway. After debuting the stable version for the Galaxy S25 series in Korea on September 15, the company has now expanded availability to multiple regions. A few hours ago, the update hit S25 phones widely in Europe and Asia. Now, Samsung has begun rolling it out to users in the US, Canada, and other remaining markets.
Galaxy S25’s One UI 8 update now available in the US and Canada
The Android 16-based One UI 8 stable update for the Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, and S25 Edge carries the firmware build version BYI3. The OTA file size varies depending on the model and region, but it generally weighs around 4GB for non-beta users. Galaxy S25 units running the beta version are getting 500MB-odd updates.
In the US, we can confirm availability for carrier-locked models, though the update should be available for unlocked variants anytime now. As always, you can install the update by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install. The September 2025 security patch is part of the package, though it was separately rolled out before.
One UI 8 isn’t as feature-packed as last year’s One UI 7, but it introduces plenty of refinements, UI tweaks, and performance improvements. With the rollout now reaching the US and Canada, Samsung doesn’t have many other regions left to cover. It should soon start pushing One UI 8 to Galaxy S24 and other devices.
Interestingly, while Galaxy S25 users are just getting their hands on One UI 8, Samsung is already moving ahead with preparations for One UI 8.5. Expected to debut with the Galaxy S26 series early next year, One UI 8.5 firmware recently appeared on the company’s servers. More details about this update should surface in the coming weeks.
