One UI 8.5 Firmware Surfaces as Samsung Rolls Out One UI 8

Samsung only just started rolling out One UI 8 to the Galaxy S25 series, but the company is already preparing for the next major update. A One UI 8.5 firmware build for the Galaxy S25 Ultra has surfaced on the company’s servers, hinting at rapid progress behind the scenes. The update should debut alongside the Galaxy S26 lineup in early 2026 before expanding to other devices.
Samsung is actively working on One UI 8.5
One UI 8.5 development has been underway for a couple of months now. The newly spotted firmware suggests Samsung is actively working on this update, testing new features and enhancements on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Built on Android 16, the new version may expand Galaxy AI with smarter voice commands, context-aware suggestions, and possibly support for multiple assistants beyond Google Gemini.
This update may also bring deeper personalization through Material You theming, animated themes, and new widget options. Performance improvements and smoother animations are on the cards too. Additionally, One UI 8.5 should improve stock Samsung apps with new features and enhancements.
As far as the launch is concerned, the Galaxy S25 series should debut in January next year. The new flagships are expected to ship with One UI 8.5 out of the box. Samsung will then gradually push the update to other eligible models. The company typically doesn’t launch beta programs for “x.1” or “x.5” versions of One UI, so don’t expect early access.
Nonetheless, with early test builds now starting to appear on Samsung’s servers, it shouldn’t be long before we get to know more about One UI 8.5. Until then, Galaxy S25 owners can enjoy One UI 8 while waiting for the next big chapter. One UI 8 is widely rolling out for the latest flagships, even in non-beta regions. Older models are expected to join the party later this month.
