Samsung May Be Planning Changes To Galaxy M And F Series Naming

Samsung seems quite sorted with the naming of its Galaxy S series, foldables, A series, and tablets. However, the company may be planning changes for its budget lineup, especially the Galaxy M and F series. These changes appear to focus mainly on naming and release patterns.

Galaxy M and F series could see naming and release strategy changes

Samsung recently launched the Galaxy M17e and Galaxy F70e. As expected, these are essentially the 5G versions of the Galaxy M07 and Galaxy F07. Ideally, they could have been called M07 5G and F07 5G, but Samsung chose a different naming approach. Even the model numbers, SM-M076B and SM-E076B, confirm this shift. This change is visible in the lower-end M and F series models.

Things get more interesting in the higher segments. The Galaxy M47 and Galaxy F70 Pro recently appeared on the IMEI database, suggesting that Samsung is preparing to launch them soon. The devices carry the model numbers SM-M476B and SM-E476B. This is surprising because Samsung seemed to have moved away from the M4* and F4* lineup, but now it appears to be making a comeback, maybe with a few changes.

Earlier this year, Samsung positioned the F70 series as a camera-focused lineup. However, the first model, the Galaxy F70e, did not deliver on that promise. The upcoming Galaxy F70 Pro is expected to improve on this and could offer a decent camera setup at its price point.

On the other hand, Samsung’s M5* and F5* lineup, which includes models like the Galaxy M56 and Galaxy F56, has been quite popular. These devices offer strong battery life, capable cameras, and good performance, making them popular among younger users. They typically launch around April or early in the year.

However, this time, their successors, the Galaxy M57 and Galaxy F57, have not appeared on IMEI databases or test servers. This suggests that Samsung may delay the launch of the new models or skip them entirely, at least for the first half of the year.

All of this indicates that Samsung could be planning changes to its budget lineup. The company may be adjusting its naming strategy or release cycle for better marketing and positioning. While the exact plans are still unclear, the next few months should give a clearer picture. If done right, it could help Samsung attract new users and refresh its budget lineup.
