Samsung has expanded its budget 5G lineup with the launch of the Galaxy M17e. The new smartphone focuses on offering a mix of reliable performance, long battery life, and long-term software support at an affordable price point. It is now on sale in India, but there’s no word on its global availability.
Galaxy M17e 5G goes official in India
The Galaxy M17e debuts as an “e” variant of the Galaxy M17. It comes with a 6.7-inch display that supports a 120Hz refresh rate, with Samsung calling it the segment’s smoothest phone. The LSD screen boasts a 720 x 1600 pixel resolution. Powering the device is MediaTek’s Dimensity 6300 processor, paired with 128GB of storage with 4GB and 6GB RAM options.
One of the biggest highlights is its massive 6,000mAh battery, which is designed to easily last more than a day on a single charge. Samsung offers 25W wired charging, which isn’t the fastest in the segment, but still fairly fast. For photography, the Galaxy M17e features a 50MP primary rear camera along with a 2MP depth sensor, while the front houses an 8MP selfie shooter.
On the software side, the device runs One UI 8 based on Android 16. Samsung is promising long-term software support. The Galaxy M17e will receive six generations of Android OS (One UI) updates and six years of security patches. The device supports Samsung Wallet with Knox security, Circle to Search, Now Bar, and many other modern One UI features.
Samsung is offering the Galaxy M17e in two color options: Vibe Violet and Blitz Blue. The phone features a slim and modern design with a clean rear panel and IP54 durability. It also features a 3.5mm headphone jack. The device also supports multiple 5G bands, making it future-ready for improved network connectivity.
Price and availability
The Galaxy M17e is now available in India through Amazon and Samsung’s online store. The 4GB+128GB variant is priced at ₹11,749 (approx. $127), while the 6GB+128GB variant costs ₹13,249 (approx. $143). These are introductory prices, including some early-bird bank discounts. Samsung is clearly targeting users who want a dependable everyday smartphone without spending too much.
