No matter where you are, there’s a good chance you’ve used Uber. The service operates in more than 70 countries worldwide. Now it looks like Uber could become one of the first third-party apps to work with One UI 8’s Live Notifications. We spotted the integration in an unreleased build, which confirms that support is on the way. Pun very much intended.

You can soon keep tabs on your Uber ride from your One UI 8’s lock screen

These live notifications will be much better soon, and it may just be the beginning. What was first released with One UI 7 now can have better integration, all thanks to Android 16 API. They work differently from standard alerts by updating in real time. That means you can check your music playback, follow a game’s live score, or watch a timer tick down without opening an app.

So far, support has been pretty limited. Aside from Samsung’s own apps, only a few Google services and Korean apps like Naver Maps and Naver Sports have taken advantage of it. Now, Uber is set to join the list.

The integration was spotted in an internal One UI 8 build running on the Galaxy A34. Right now, it only shows up as a toggle in settings, suggesting that the feature isn’t fully live on Uber’s side yet. We don’t know what the ride-tracking card will look like, but the backend clearly seems to be in the works.

As for timing, it’s still up in the air. It might not ship with the first One UI 8 release (for Galaxy S25 series) in September, but could roll out later with One UI 8.5 alongside the Galaxy S26 series. Either way, we were told back in May that Uber Eats support is coming with Android 16, along with Waymo. Whenever it does arrive, being able to check on your ride straight from the lock screen will be nice.
