Galaxy Z TriFold Leak Reveals Charging, Reverse Charging, NFC Payments in Animations

Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold is taking shape inch by inch every day, thanks to leaks. Even though Samsung has confirmed its existence, there’s frankly not much we’d know if it weren’t for the leaks. A new leak focuses on something many of us use daily, and shows the Galaxy Z TriFold’s approach to that.
More specifically, it focuses on wireless interactions like charging, reverse charging, and even mobile payments. Some animation files show them in action, and how that’s a bit different from slab phones.
Here’s how Galaxy Z TriFold will charge wirlessly
Wireless charging is indeed convenient and yes, the Galaxy Z TriFold will support wireless charging, but it’s not as simple as on a slab phone. Samsung has built-in charging coils along the rightmost third of the device when the screen is facing you.
To help users get it right, Samsung even designed an instructional animation showing the correct placement. That animation is expected to appear when you first connect to a charger, during setup, or inside the settings menu.

Reverse wireless charging
Like Samsung’s other flagships, the Galaxy Z TriFold also doubles as a charger. You’ll be able to place your Galaxy Buds, smartwatch, or even another phone on the back of the device and it’ll top them up. The animation again highlights coil locations when the phone is folded and unfolded. And if Samsung keeps parity with its current foldables, you should be able to keep using the cover display while juicing up another gadget.
NFC payments
Of course, the Galaxy Z TriFold will also support mobile payments via NFC. Some of us have even ditched carrying physical cards and have been more spoiled. What’s interesting is that you can tap-to-pay even when the device is unfolded. That means you could be checking off a shopping list on the big screen, then pay at checkout without needing to fold the phone shut. Check out one more animation:
The latest batch of leaks emerging in recent days has made us more tempted than ever to try out the Galaxy Z TriFold. I’m using a Galaxy Z Fold 7, which is again a super nice device, but I think that only the Z TriFold could make me switch. The bigger question remains, when will it launch after all, and will Samsung bring it globally or keep it limited to only a few regions?
