Samsung has released its May 2025 update for the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6 in the US. This is the first update for these phones since the One UI 7 upgrade. It brings the latest security fixes and system optimizations for smoother performance.

Samsung’s May 2025 update is now available for the Galaxy S24, Fold 6, and Flip 6 in the US

Over the past few weeks, Samsung has rolled out the May SMR (Security Maintenance Release) to a bunch of Galaxy devices across various markets. The Galaxy S24, Fold 6, and Flip 6 have already received the update in Korea and select other regions. Users in the US are now getting the latest security patch.

The May 2025 update for the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra carries the firmware build number S92*USQS4BYE4. As of this writing, we can only confirm its availability for carrier-locked units on Verizon’s network. However, Samsung should soon roll out the update for unlocked units and expand the coverage nationwide across all carriers.

As far as the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 are concerned, both carrier-locked and unlocked variants are picking up this update. The build numbers for the Fold model are F956USQS2BYE2 (locked) and F956U1UES2BYE3 (unlocked). Those for the Flip are F741USQS2BYE2 and F741U1UES2BYE3, respectively.

These devices aren’t getting any new features or enhancements with the May update. The latest release is all about this month’s security fixes and other minor system optimizations. Samsung’s May 2025 SMR contains fixes for nearly 80 vulnerabilities across Android OS and One uI components. The Galaxy S24, Fold 6, and Flip 6 received tons of new features with One UI 7 last month.

If you use a Galaxy smartphone, navigate to Settings > Software update > Download and install to check for updates. Since updates are released in batches, users in some regions may have to wait longer than others.
