Samsung may finally be preparing to launch the much-anticipated Galaxy XR headset this month. We’ve already had a close look at the Galaxy XR at several events, most recently at the Snapdragon Summit 2025. Now it looks like the launch is closer than ever, and some of us might be able to try it out soon.

Pre-registration for the Galaxy XR could begin October 15

A new report from Korean outlet Chosun suggests that the Galaxy XR will be officially unveiled on October 21. The same report claims that Samsung will stick to its recent playbook by opening pre-registration a week before launch, meaning sign-ups for Galaxy XR could begin on October 15.

The headset, carrying the model number SM-I610, has already cleared Bluetooth certification, a clear sign that Samsung is in the home stretch. Under the hood, early reports point to a Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset, 16 GB of RAM, and tight integration with Google’s Android XR platform and Gemini AI smarts.

The weight and other details are under the wraps as well. However, Chosun report quotes TM Roh saying, “the weight and wearing comfort are good, and voice control can deliver a refined user experience.”

Pricing is still up in the air, but South Korean media estimates it will land somewhere between 2.5 million and 4 million KRW (around USD 1,800 to 3,000). That would put it below Apple’s Vision Pro. Samsung is likely planning a selective rollout focused on certain regions first, so it’s unclear when the Galaxy XR will make its way to the US or other markets. We’ll probably get more clarity once it debuts in Korea.

Meanwhile, Samsung’s tri-fold phone is also inching closer to release. Mobile chief TM Roh has confirmed that the device is in its “final stages” and should arrive before the end of the year. Leaked animations suggest it will handle multitasking across three displays, support DeX mode, and come with Galaxy AI baked into the experience.
