Samsung is gearing up to enter the XR market as its upcoming extended reality headset has received Bluetooth certification. Listed under the model number SM-I610, the device appears to have been officially named the Galaxy XR. This certification hints at an imminent launch of the much-awaited headset, though we are still awaiting confirmation from Samsung.

Galaxy XR grabs the Bluetooth certification ahead of launch

Codenamed Project Moohan, the Galaxy XR headset is a result of Samsung’s collaboration with Google and Qualcomm, aimed at delivering a premium XR experience. It runs on Android XR, custom Android-based software optimized for XR applications. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset powers the device, coupled with 16GB of RAM.

The device is anticipated to support advanced features such as eye and hand tracking, dual micro-OLED displays with high resolution, and integration with Google’s Gemini AI for enhanced user interaction, productivity, gaming, and immersive media experiences. Reports suggest support for 3D capture, spatial video playback, and seamless connectivity with Galaxy smartphones and tablets, making it a central hub in Samsung’s ecosystem.

Samsung has already showcased the upcoming XR headset several times across various events. It also featured at Qualcomm’s recently concluded Snapdragon Summit 2025. While the Bluetooth SIG listing does not provide detailed specifications, the certification of the Galaxy XR headset indicates that Samsung is in the final stages of preparation for its release.

Industry sources suggest that the device could be launched in South Korea as early as October 21. A broader global release may follow shortly thereafter. The Galaxy XR could cost between $2,000 and $3,000. While still expensive, that price tag makes it cheaper than the Apple Vision Pro, which retails at $3,500. As the launch approaches, more detailed information about this headset’s features, pricing, and availability should surface.
