Samsung released the Galaxy Z TriFold last month in select markets, and the device has now entered One UI 8.5 testing. Along with this, the Galaxy XCover 7 Pro and Tab Active 5 have also appeared with One UI 8.5 test builds. As usual, this does not mean the update will arrive anytime soon. It only confirms that Samsung has started internal testing of the upcoming One UI version for these devices.

One UI 8.5 testing begins for Galaxy Z TriFold, XCover 7 Pro, and Tab Active 5

The Galaxy Z TriFold launched with One UI 8 based on Android 16 out of the box. Samsung has recently begun testing One UI 8.5 for the device, and it has shown up on the company’s servers in Korea with the firmware version F968NKSU2BZA5. One UI 8.5 will be the first feature update for the Galaxy Z TriFold.

The Z TriFold is quite different from other Galaxy devices due to its triple folding design. Because of this, Samsung may introduce a few new features that are specifically optimized for the form factor. These changes could focus on multitasking, large screen usage, and overall productivity. However, these features have not been officially confirmed yet.

On the other hand, the Galaxy XCover 7 Pro has also joined the One UI 8.5 testing phase. This seems to be the first XCover-series model to appear with a One UI 8.5 build. The device has surfaced in Europe, Turkey, and Vietnam with the firmware version G766BXXU4CYL3.

The Galaxy Tab Active 5 has also appeared with a One UI 8.5 test build. The device surfaced on test servers in regions like India, Europe, and Turkey, along with the firmware version X306BXXU8DZA1 for the 5G variants.

One UI 8.5 is expected to launch later next month, alongside the Galaxy S26 series. After the announcement, Samsung should start the stable rollout within two to three weeks. Most One UI 8.5 eligible devices should receive the Android 16 QPR2-based update in the first half of the year.

If your device received One UI 8, it should also get One UI 8.5. We will keep you updated with more test builds and rollout details as they appear.
