Previous reports from Korean media suggested that Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold could finally launch on September 29. But new reports indicate that Samsung may push back the release.

Latest report cast doubt on the Galaxy Z TriFold’s launch date

ETNews reports that while Samsung could unveil the Galaxy Z TriFold as early as “next month,” the actual launch may not happen until November. That still lines up with what Samsung executives previously told the media about a tri-fold release, but it’s a bit of a letdown for those eager to get their hands on the device right away.

All signs suggest Samsung is being careful not to cannibalize sales of the already-successful Galaxy Z Fold 7. The latest book-style foldable introduces a major redesign, making it the slimmest foldable worldwide. ETNews points to the same reasoning. So, we’ll see the TriFold, just not as soon as we hoped.

Meanwhile, Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold has entered mass production. Still, the company isn’t betting on it the way it did with its first foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold, which debuted back in 2019. Reports say Samsung will only produce about 10% of the volume it did for the Fold, despite this being another first-generation device.

There are likely more factors at play, but one thing worth noting is cost. The TriFold will sit on the higher end of the price spectrum. That means you can expect to pay around 4 million Korean won when it launches.

For American buyers, that’s roughly $2,900, which makes it even pricier than the upcoming Galaxy XR headset. As a reminder, it’s rumored to launch between 2.5 million and 4 million won. As previous leaks have suggested, the Galaxy Z TriFold could also be limited at first to Korea and China.
