Galaxy Z TriFold Doesn’t Support S Pen, But Samsung Includes a Charger

Samsung’s newly launched Galaxy Z TriFold is essentially a foldable tablet that collapses into a smartphone. Its massive 10-inch display seems tailor-made for note-taking, sketching, and serious productivity. Yet despite the ideal canvas, the device doesn’t support the S Pen. On the flip side, Samsung does include a 45W charger in the box, something we haven’t seen with its flagships in years.
Samsung isn’t bringing the S Pen to its foldables anymore
Earlier this year, Samsung dropped S Pen support from the Galaxy Z Fold 7. As such, the TriFold missing out on stylus input is no surprise. Not only is there no S Pen in the box, but its main foldable display simply isn’t compatible with any S Pen, not even the Fold Edition. So even if you already own Samsung’s iconic stylus, it won’t work with the device.
Some fans will undoubtedly see this as a missed opportunity, as the Galaxy Z TriFold’s 10-inch canvas feels tailor-made for pen input. However, Samsung appears uninterested in keeping the S Pen around for its foldable lineup. And it’s unlikely to reverse course in the future. The Korean firm seems to be moving away from stylus integration, not just on foldables, but all smartphones.
Samsung has already removed Bluetooth features from the S Pen and may soon stop including it with Ultra flagships. The pen might remain an optional accessory for Ultra models, though. Or maybe we’ll see a different approach once the company starts making a digitizer-free S Pen.
A charger in the box is rare these days
Interestingly, while Samsung is stepping back from S Pen support, it is adding something customers haven’t seen in years: a charger inside the box. The Galaxy Z TriFold ships in a noticeably larger, more premium-looking package compared to the thin boxes of other modern Galaxy phones. Inside, you’ll find the handset itself, along with a 45W fast charger, USB-C to USB-C cable, and even a protective case with a carbon-fiber texture.
That makes it one of the most complete accessory bundles Samsung has offered in a long time, especially for a flagship. The Galaxy Z TriFold also has the largest ever battery in a Galaxy foldable, a 5,600mAh unit. The company hasn’t shared official charging times yet, but based on comparable Galaxy devices, a full charge from 0–100% should take roughly 1.5 hours.
It remains to be seen whether Samsung will offer an in-box charger and protective case with the Galaxy Z TriFold in all markets. As of this writing, the device is confirmed to launch in South Korea, China, Singapore, Taiwan, the UAE, and the USA.
