Galaxy Z TriFold Becomes Instant Hit, Sold Out Within Minutes

The Galaxy Z TriFold made its retail debut in South Korea today, and it didn’t take long to disappear from shelves. Despite its premium price and first-generation status, the device sold out within minutes. Its unique tri-folding form factor and strong consumer curiosity have turned it into an unexpected hit in Samsung’s home market.
Galaxy Z TriFold sold out minutes after launch
Announced last week, the Galaxy Z TriFold officially hit store shelves in Korea on December 12. Priced at KRW 3.59 million (approximately $2,450) for the 512GB model, it stands among the most expensive smartphones ever released. Despite the steep price, the device drew massive in-store crowds. Samsung opened sales at 20 major retail locations nationwide, and each store saw heavy foot traffic, resulting in an almost instant sellout.
The TriFold is also out of stock on Samsung’s online store. The company hasn’t announced when the next batch will be available, but it has already begun collecting restock sign-ups. The Galaxy Z TriFold will expand to additional markets in the coming weeks. However, sales in the US won’t begin until 2026.
Despite being a first-gen product, Samsung has packed the device with top-tier hardware and meaningful software support. You get a 6.5-inch 120Hz OLED cover display, which does the normal smartphone stuff as well as any other device. And when you unfold it, you get a whole 10-inch tablet on the inside. How cool is that?
There are two 10MP selfie cameras on the Galaxy Z TriFold: one on the cover screen, one on the inner display. The phone also features a 200MP primary camera with OIS, 12MP ultrawide camera with autofocus, and 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and OIS. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor paired with 16GB RAM and 512GB or 1TB storage options. It ships with Android 16-based One UI 8 out of the box.
