In a bit of a surprise, a recent report claimed that Samsung may open the beta program for One UI 8.5. This is unusual, which is why it has caught people off guard. In recent days, several One UI 8.5 features have already come to light, thanks to leaked builds. Now, it seems Samsung has begun testing the One UI 8.5 build for the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

Samsung is now testing One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy Z Fold 7

For what it’s worth, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, and the Galaxy S25 series are the strongest contenders to gain access to the One UI 8.5 beta program. Beyond these, Samsung might also open the beta program for other devices such as the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6. That’s just an educated guess, as Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed any plans for a One UI 8.5 beta. However, the source in question has proven reliable for such developments.

Updates tracker Akhilesh Kumar shared that Samsung has begun testing the One UI 8.5 build for the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Currently, testing is limited to US models, but we’ll keep you posted when it expands to other regions. The firmware version in question is F966USQU5BYJ1, which we’ve verified.

With the One UI 8.5 beta expected to start in the final week of November, everything seems on track. The One UI 8.5 update will bring a host of features and visual changes. It’s unclear how many of these will appear in the beta, which is typically less polished than the stable release. Speaking of the stable release, it is unlikely to arrive before the Galaxy S26 series launches in January. For now, you can take a look at the upcoming changes in One Ui 8.5 in a 30-minute video.
