Galaxy Z Fold 7 is Incredibly Thin and Lightweight — Lighter Than S25 Ultra

With just days to go before Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9, new leaks have surfaced revealing fresh details about its next-gen foldables — the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. The upcoming models feature sleeker designs, lighter builds, and some notable hardware upgrades. The new Fold is incredibly slim and reportedly weighs less than the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

According to well-known tipster Setsuna Digital on Weibo, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will take the crown as the thinnest and lightest book-style foldable phone. The device reportedly measures 8.9mm when folded and just 4.2mm when unfolded, including the display bumpers — 3.9mm without those. The total weight comes in at 215 grams. With these figures, it edges out the current record holder, the Vivo X Fold 5, by 0.3mm in thickness and 2 grams in weight.
This also makes the Galaxy Z Fold 7 lighter than the S25 Ultra (218 grams). To achieve this sleek design, Samsung has reportedly used a stronger yet lighter enhanced Armor Aluminum frame and a glass-ceramic back panel, offering improved durability without adding bulk. The device sports a 6.5-inch cover display and an 8-inch foldable inner display. It runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, the same as the S25 series.
Samsung has upgraded the new Fold to a 200MP primary rear camera. It’s still unclear if the device will retain its predecessor’s IP48 dust and water resistance or if the company will offer stronger protection against dust. Vivo’s X Fold 5 boasts an IP58/IP59+ rating. Samsung has already confirmed that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 will break cover on July 9, so not a long wait until we find out. Leaks could reveal those details before the official announcement, so stay tuned.
