Galaxy Z Flip 7 Gets Bigger Battery, Larger Display — Yet Thinner Than Ever

Alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7, the Flip 7 is also receiving meaningful upgrades. While the changes aren’t as dramatic as those seen on the Fold, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is now thinner than its predecessor. With the official launch just around the corner, fresh leaks have emerged, revealing several key specifications of the upcoming clamshell foldable.

Galaxy Z Flip 7 shrinks in size, grows in power

The most notable upgrades in the Galaxy Z Flip 7 are its battery and cover screen. It packs a 4,300mAh battery instead of a 4,000mAh unit. The external display size goes up from 3.4 inches to 4.1 inches. However, despite these upgrades, the phone is expected to measure just 13.7mm when folded and 6.5mm when unfolded. To recall, the Flip 6 measures 14.9mm and 6.9mm, respectively.

At 188 grams, the Flip 7 is also incredibly lightweight for its specs (Flip 6 is 187 grams). Samsung reportedly retained the standard battery tech, rather than switching to silicon carbon cells, making the weight and size reductions even more impressive. Thanks to slimmer 1.25mm bezels, the internal screen also gets bigger, now measuring 6.9 inches diagonally. It boasts a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 2,600 nits peak brightness, alongside a 21:9 aspect ratio.

While the Fold 7 gets Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, Samsung will ship the Galaxy Z Flip 7 with its in-house Exynos 2500 chipset. The 3nm process is paired with 12GB RAM and supports 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC connectivity. Both foldables will launch with Android 16-based One UI 8. They should be eligible for seven or eight years of OS upgrades and security updates.

Samsung will officially unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 at its Unpacked event on July 9. The company is also expected to debut the Galaxy Watch 8 series and possibly offer a sneak peek at its first tri-folding phone.
