Every year, we hear the same words: AI, next-gen, revolutionary, “Ultra experience.” But real upgrades aren’t slogans. They’re things you feel the moment you open the camera, scroll the UI, or shoot your first video. So here’s my Galaxy S26 Ultra wishlist focused on real, noticeable upgrades users can actually feel in daily use, not marketing terms or spec-sheet hype.

This is not a rumor list. This is a results-based wishlist for the Galaxy S26 Ultra — focused on photography, video, display, performance, and daily usability.

If Samsung delivers the following improvements, the Galaxy S26 Ultra becomes a real upgrade, not just a spec refresh.

Better Noise Reduction — Without Killing Texture

I want around a 30% improvement in noise control in Auto mode, especially indoors and in mixed lighting, without smearing detail or destroying natural texture. Clean shadows matter, but natural sharpening matters more. This should be achievable across all lenses with smarter neural stacking, ISP tuning, and sensor improvements, especially if the 3x lens finally gets modern hardware.

Cleaner, More Natural Processing

A 20% improvement in overall processing quality would already change everything. More accurate colors, less artificial contrast, fewer processing artifacts. Less “look at me,” more this looks real. Samsung already knows how to do this; it just needs to be consistent.

24MP as the Default Output

It’s time. 24MP should be the default, not an option buried inside Camera Assistant. Yes, there are rumors that Samsung may allow 24MP as a default toggle, and that’s a step in the right direction. But it shouldn’t require a separate app or workaround to access what is clearly the best-balanced output.

If the rumors are true, Portrait mode may still remain locked at 12MP, and that would be a missed opportunity. Let’s see how it plays out, but in general, 24MP delivers the best balance between detail, noise, and processing. Samsung’s own tuning consistently looks its most natural at this resolution.

The hardware is ready. The image pipeline is ready. Now Samsung just needs to be bold enough to make 24MP the standard.

Virtual Aperture on All Lenses

Virtual Aperture shouldn’t be limited to the main camera. Bring it to 3x, 5x, and beyond. Consistent depth rendering across lenses would instantly elevate portrait and creative photography, and it’s one of Expert RAW’s strongest ideas.

Subtle Clarity Boost — Keep It Natural

A 10–15% clarity improvement is enough, as long as the texture stays intact. Expert RAW already does this well. Auto mode needs to catch up without going crunchy or artificial.

True Lossless Expert RAW Options

Give us lossless 200MP and 50MP ERAW, not just 24MP or 12MP. If the sensor can capture it, users should be able to access it, especially for landscapes and controlled lighting. Let people decide when resolution actually matters.

Stronger Pure RAW in Pro Mode

Pure RAW should remain genuinely raw, but it also needs better consistency. Cleaner shadow structure, more accurate color calibration, and truly neutral output across all lenses. Pro Mode should feel like a real capture tool, not a semi-interpreted pipeline. JPEG output here also needs improvement for those who want quick, ready-to-share results.

Better 3rd-Party App Optimization

Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Lightroom, CapCut, Snapchat, etc. — this still matters. Better HDR handling, cleaner pipelines, fewer compromises. The hardware is already there. The software needs to finally catch up.

A Display That Actually Moves Forward

I want brighter sustained brightness, stronger HDR, better efficiency, and more stable brightness behavior in heat, with wider support for advanced display modes. M14 OLED + COE tech makes this absolutely achievable. No excuses.

The privacy display is a real game-changer as well. But there’s another part Samsung needs to address properly: PWM and eye comfort. Not everyone has the same sensitivity, so the solution doesn’t need to be one-size-fits-all. Samsung could offer:

1. A higher PWM option
2. A “DC-Like Dimming” toggle (similar to competitors), which is often better than just pushing PWM higher
3. A hybrid solution that prioritizes eye comfort without hurting image quality

Give users control. Eye comfort is part of display quality, not an edge case.

A Real Leap in Auto Video Quality

I want a 20% improvement in Auto video quality, day and night: better dynamic range, less noise, more stable exposure, cleaner motion. Auto video is what most people use. It deserves a real upgrade.

Elite APV Video codec

Samsung’s APV format has massive potential. Push it to a level creators actually choose, not something they test once and move on from. This could be a real differentiator if done properly.

Thermals: Keep the S25 Ultra Baseline — Improve It

The Galaxy S25 Ultra already handles heat extremely well, even in hot regions — I know, I live here. Keep that baseline and improve it by another 10%. Stability matters more than peak numbers.

Real Performance Gains — No Trade-Offs

A 20% performance jump is welcome, but only if it comes with no extra heat and no battery penalty. Sustained performance matters more than benchmarks.

Battery Life That Actually Improves (Optimization matters)

I want +1 to +1.5 hours of real-world battery life. Not “up to,” not lab numbers, but actual daily use via optimization.

Better Gaming Optimization

More stable frame rates, smarter thermal scaling, fewer drops over time. The hardware is powerful; now optimize it properly.

A Selfie Camera That Finally Competes

The selfie camera needs real work. Face tracking, video consistency, framing, stabilization, etc., to bring it closer to the iPhone’s Center Stage level. Not just higher megapixels or sensor size, but a real quality boost.

If Samsung nails these points, I’ll call the Galaxy S26 Ultra a true upgrade. I don’t care how they do it. I don’t care what they call it. Just give users results they can see, feel, and trust, not marketing terms. That’s what Ultra should mean.
