Samsung has taken another regulatory step toward its next flagship launch. The battery for the Galaxy S26+ has now been certified by India’s Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The base Galaxy S26 and S26 Ultra have already picked up this battery certification.

Galaxy S26+ also gains battery certification from BIS

The BIS has certified battery packs for an unnamed Samsung smartphone with the model number SM-S946. It appears to be none other than the Galaxy S26+. The same agency previously certified batteries for devices with model numbers SM-S942 (Galaxy S26/Pro), SM-S947 (now-canceled S26 Edge), and SM-S948 (S26 Ultra).

While the certification does not reveal detailed specifications, it confirms that Samsung has begun clearing mandatory approvals ahead of the official launch, which is expected in February 2026. The company opting for a separate model number for the Galaxy S26+ suggests it still has plans for the Edge variant. The slim flagship may not be part of the main lineup, but it may not be dead either.

Coming to the battery capacities, rumors suggest the Galaxy S26 will pack a 4,300mAh unit, while the Ultra might get a 5,000mAh or 5,200mAh battery. The Plus model may keep the 4,900mAh battery of its predecessor. Samsung is also upgrading the Ultra to 60W wired and 25W wireless charging. The Galaxy S26+ may remain at 45W wired but go up to 20W wireless speeds.

As for the base Galaxy S26, its wired charging speed may remain at 25W, though there are rumors of a boost to 45W speeds. Wireless speeds may get a bump to 20W, all thanks to native Qi2 support. With regulatory approvals picking up pace, expect more details to surface in the coming weeks.
