Galaxy S25 Series Finally Gets One UI 8 Update in Japan

Samsung has officially started rolling out the One UI 8 update for the Galaxy S25 series in Japan. The update arrives a whole month after the initial release in South Korea. While it’s not unusual for Japanese Galaxy users to receive major updates a few weeks later than global markets, it’s about time Samsung improved that.

Galaxy S25 users in Japan are getting One UI 8 with the firmware build version BYI7. The update also includes the September 2025 security patch alongside a myriad of new features and enhancements. It introduces a series of refinements and performance boosts built on Android 16. From UI refinements and smoother transitions to improved multitasking performance and AI-driven tools, there’s a lot to look forward to.
Key improvements include upgrades to Now Bar and Now Brief. A new quick key for Audio Eraser has also been added to the Gallery app, allowing users to remove unwanted noise from video clips directly from the preview screen. Other changes include enhanced privacy controls, smarter AI behavior, and system-wide performance optimizations.
Samsung released One UI 8 for the Galaxy S25 series in mid-September. However, Japanese users had to wait an additional month to get the Android 16-based update. Samsung needs to do better, as Galaxy smartphones have seen a steady rise in popularity in Japan in recent years. To build on this growing momentum, the company would benefit from faster and more synchronized update releases in the country.
Since the One UI 8 update has now hit the Galaxy S25 lineup in Japan, users with other Galaxy devices should keep a close eye too. Samsung may soon release the big feature update for other eligible models. You can always check for updates from Settings > Software update > Download and install.
